Coach Z

Zekylah Boyd grew up in Heard County, Georgia, and began playing softball at just four years old. A multi-sport athlete, she also competed in basketball and track and field throughout her childhood. After spending her freshman year at Harris County High School, she transferred to Heard County High School, where she completed her high school career as a standout middle infielder. Zekylah continued her softball career at the University of West Georgia, competing as an outfielder at both the NCAA Division II and Division I levels. She served as a team captain and was recognized twice as an NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete. Her defensive ability also earned her three Rawlings Gold Glove nominations during her collegiate career. After graduating from UWG with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Community Wellness, Zekylah began her coaching career in the Heard County School System. She currently serves as an assistant softball coach at Heard County High School and head girls’ basketball coach at Heard County Middle School. She plans to attend physical therapy school and continue pursuing her passion for athletics, wellness, and helping others.

Zekylah believes that softball is about far more than wins and losses. It is a platform for building character, resilience, discipline, and lifelong relationships. She strives to create an environment where athletes are challenged to compete with confidence, embrace adversity, and give their maximum effort every day. Her goal is for every player to leave the program not only as a better athlete but also as a stronger leader, teammate, and person. While she values success on the field, she believes the greatest victories come from the lessons learned, the friendships built, and the growth that prepares young women for life beyond the game.
